Blogging Marathon# 41: Week 4/ Day 2

Theme: BM Pair (Sujatha Ram)

Dish: Thengai Paal Kootu

Today’s dish from Sujatha’s blog is a super simple, yet very delicious mixed veg curry cooked in coconut milk. Veggies are cooked in coconut milk and flavored with sambar powder — it’s that simple, but the flavor both these ingredients infuse into the veggies is just amazing.

I wanted to speed up the process a little, so I precooked the veggies in the microwave and then finished cooking on the stove with coconut milk. This dish is very similar to the Kerala vegetable stew, but the sambar powder makes this a completely different dish.

  1. Very lovely picture Pavani…adding coconut milk and coconut cream sounds so rich right..never used cream..should see if we get it..

  2. Liked d crocheted table piece – did u do that pavani ? N d kootu looks good.. Was expecting it to have a lil more gravy, but guess this is d consistency..

  3. Kalyani, bought those crochet pieces at a garage sale 🙂 Kootu is dry because my husband doesn’t like white gravies, so made it a little on the thick side.

  4. Valli, you can use thick homemade coconut milk instead. I used store bought light coconut milk, so added some coconut cream to make the curry a little thick and creamy.

  5. So this is the x-mas tree kinda of styling that everyone was talking about it! Nice presentation and kootu looks good.
