Faluche du Nord (North France Flat Bread)

For this month’s Home Baker’s ChallengePriya Suresh @ Priya’s Versatile Recipes chose some yummy French baked goodies. I picked this simple flat bread from Northern France called Faluche du Nord from Priya’s list. The recipe seemed very simple to make almost, yeasted dough then rolled out and baked into bread, almost like our own naans. But I thought these were much simpler to make because the rolled out dough is cut using a cutter instead of rolling each bread separately. I thoroughly enjoyed making these bread. I added some atta (whole wheat flour) to add some fiber and nutrition. The…

Whole Wheat Challah Bread (Eggless recipe)

For this month’s Home Baker’s Challenge, our host Priya Ranjit very aptly chose Holiday Bakes. She gave us recipes for holiday cookies, cakes and breads to choose from. As usual when I saw the list I wanted to bake 2 or 3 recipes and as usual I ran out of time. But I’m glad I found time to bake at least one from the list and I’ll try to bake a few more before the end of the year. We had a snow storm yesterday (all that white in the background is snow in the next picture) and as luck…

Almond-Cranberry Biscotti (Eggless Recipe)

For this month’s Home Baker’s Challenge, Priya Suresh @ Priya’s Versatile Recipes wanted us to bake some crispy & crunchy Biscottis. She gave us options to bake either savory or sweet biscottis. Since I have a housefull of sweet toothed people, I made the sweet biscotti. I have been planning to bake biscotti for a while now, but didn’t get a chance to try them. I was excited when I saw Priya’s picks for this month and I wanted to bake both sweet and savory biscottis, but couldn’t find time to make the savory one. I’m glad that I was…

Halloween Whoopie Pies (Eggless Recipe)

For this month’s Home Baker’s Challenge, our host of the month Nalini Suresh @ Nalini’s Kitchen chose 5 spooky & yummy Halloween treats. When I saw the challenge the beginning of the month I felt like I should make all of them. But of course time slipped through my hands and in the end I was scrambling to find time to make at least 1 of the treats. After much deliberation, I ended up making these Halloween Whoopie Pies. I’ve never made whoopie pies and this challenge gave me a chance to make these cakey cookies. I didn’t have orange…

Pizza Monkey Bread

For this month’s ‘Home Baker’s Challenge’ we are making Bread. Manjula of Desi Fiesta is the host for this month and she chose 4 different breads for trying. After deliberating on which one to choose, I finally ended up making a quite simple, but super tasty Pizza Monkey Bread. I hope to make the others on the challenge too sometime. Monkey Bread is usually a sweet, sticky, gooey bread served for breakfast in the US. I went with a savory pizza flavor this time and used a pizza crust for the bread. The bread was so soft and fluffy and…

Pinwheel Cookies (Vanilla Chocolate Marbled or Pinwheel Cookies)

Pinwheel Cookies are the second cookies I baked for this month’s Home Baker’s Challenge. The first cookie I bakes was these peanut butter cookies. Actually the first one I wanted to bake were these pinwheel cookies, they looked so cute and the pics that Viji shared from Heritage Cook were to die for. I knew right away I wanted to bake these and I’m do glad that I did. These cookies look so fancy, but they are not that difficult to make. Even my chocoholic son loved them because both the flavors of vanilla and chocolate are balanced. The only…

Peanut Butter Cookies

This month we are baking cookies for Home Bakers Challenge. Viji @ Virunthu Unna Vaanga gave us quite a few options to choose from. I made 2 different cookies as I had to bake cookies for two separate parties and what better way to try 2 recipes. Both of them turned out great. Today I’ve Peanut butter cookies and I used Dorie Greenspan’s recipe instead of Martha Stewart’s recipe that was given to us by Viji. Martha Stewart’s recipe only had 3 stars and since I was making these for a lunch party, I wanted to make use a recipe…

Mango-Chocolate Marble Bundt Cake for Home Bakers Challenge

For this month’s Home Baker’s Challenge, Sangeetha @ Spicy Treats picked an interesting cake combination with mango and chocolate. I was skeptical on how this combo would turn out, but the end result was moist and delicious cake that the whole family loved. I baked it in my 6 cup bundt cake pan, but this cake can also be made in a 9×5″ loaf pan or a 8″ round pan. Also I added some wholewheat pastry flour to add some fiber and nutrition to the cake.I added a chocolate ganache on the top to make it a little special since…

Homemade Pesto Pizza

This is our first Home Bakers Challenge. Home Bakers is an enthusiastic group of baking enthusiastic bloggers and is started by Priya Suresh @ Priya’s Versatile Recipes. For the first month’s challenge Divya @ Divya’s Culinary Journey picked Homemade Pizza. We were given couple of different pizza crust and toppings recipes and I made Martha Stewart’s pizza crust recipe with few minor changes and a store bought pesto topping. I liked that this recipe can be conveniently made in the food processor. I added wholewheat flour along with all-purpose flour to add some fiber and nutrition.
