Strawberry Tartlets (Valentine’s Day Recipe)

It is that time of the year, when love is in the air, strawberries and chocolates are highly sort after. I had plans on posting something totally different for the weeked, but then I remembered the big box of strawberries I picked up at Costco and that led me to think to look for a Valentine’s day worthy recipe. I got lucky in the second book I was browsing and found this really quick and easy to make Strawberry Tartlets. This recipe is from Costco Connection cookbook. Very few ingredients are needed for this recipe and luckily I had them…

Mixed Fruit Shrikhand

Here’s something different from all the different baking and kid friendly dishes I have been posting all week. A deliciously creamy Indian dessert made with yogurt and flavored with saffron and served with some fruit. I was never a big fan of Shrikhand growing up and don’t remember eating it many times. Even after started liking it, I’ve never made it at home because straining the yogurt seemed to be a big step and also I didn’t want my yogurt-hating husband to find some strange contraption in the fridge and chuck it without telling me (I have done something similar…

Amritsari Aloo Kulcha (Potato Stuffed Indian Bread) for ICC

For this month’s Indian Cooking Challenge (ICC), Valli wanted us to make an Indian bread, Amritsari Aloo Kulcha. After the April mega marathon where explored the dishes from all the Indian states, I’ve decided not to skip any ICC editions because it is a good opportunity to learn regional dishes from different parts of India. Also Valli always makes it a point to challenge us to try dishes that are unique and tries to get authentic recipes of the same. This month’s challenge fit right into our meal plan. While my in-laws were here we ate rotis at least 3~4…

Vegetarian Curries from Himachal Pradesh

Channa Madra: This was one of the most popular dishes made for the state of Himachal Pradesh. It is a yogurt based curry made with chickpeas. Recipe adapted from Valli’s & Nalini’s recipes: Nashpati ki Subzi (Pear Curry): This is quite an unusal dish for me, since I rarely cook with fruits and making a curry with a fruit is very new to me. When I saw it on Vaishali’s blog, I really wanted to try it to see how it tastes. I wasn’t disappointed — the curry is sweet, spicy and juicy.

Apple Pie Smoothie

I make sure that I take a copy of ‘Chop Chop’magazine from my kid’s pediatrician’s office. It is a fun book with some very simple to make recipes and activity ideas for kids. My son loves to read this book cover to cover and really enjoys doing the word scramble and kid quizes. Today’s recipe is a simple smoothie from that book. I asked my son to pick a recipe that we can make together and this was something he thought he would like. He didn’t really care for the texture of oats in the smoothie and I tried to…

Adai Aviyal

Blogging Marathon# 35: Week 4/ Day 1 Theme: Bookmarked recipes Dish: Adai Aviyal We are starting the final week of Blogging Marathon today and my theme for this week is ‘Bookmarked recipes’. My bookmarks are multiplying by the minute. There are so many recipes that I really really want to try but I never seem to find the time or the occasion to make them. Thanks to Valli for creating the occasion by making bookmarked recipes as a theme during BM, which gives us a chance to try at least 3 dishes from the bookmarked folder. So for the first…
