Undrallu Kudumulu

Undrallu or kudumulu are traditionally made as offering (prasad or neivedhyam) on Ganesh Chathurthi. These steamed rice balls are very easy to make. Serve with spicy allam pachadi.

Soak Chana dal for at least 30 minutes.

Saute cumin seeds in little oil. Add water and bring to a simmer.

Drain soaked chana dal and add to the water along with water.

Add rice rava (cream of rice) in a single stream to the boiling water. Mix well. Lower the heat, cover and cook until all of the water is absorbed. 

Once rice rava is cooked completely. Turn off the heat and set aside to cool for 10 minutes.

Once cool enough to handle, make ladoo with the rice mixture.

Steam Undrallu for 10-12 minutes.

Serve steamed Undrallu/ Kudumulu with spicy ginger chutney
