Heat oil in a nonstick pan, add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook on medium flame, stirring occasionally, until the onions are lightly browned and caramelized, about 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the onions cool slightly.
In the meantime combine mayonnaise and sour cream in a mixing bowl. Add the cooled onions, everything bagel topping, salt and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 1 hour for the flavors to meld.
Serve with chips, veggies, pretzels and Enjoy!!
Notes
You can make everything bagel seasoning at home. Combine the below in a small bowl, mix well and use.
black sesame seeds - ¼ teaspoon
white sesame seeds - ¼ teaspoon
dried minced onion - ¼ teaspoon
garlic powder - ¼ teaspoon
poppy seeds - ¼ teaspoon
Double or triple the seasoning recipe and sprinkle it avocado sandwich, dinner rolls, salads etc.
Slice the onions thinly and evenly. Cook on medium flame, stirring occasionally. Do not try to rush and raise the flame. The need to be cooked low and slow.
Leftover dip can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
