This Everything Bagel Onion dip is a creamy appetizer that is easy to make and absolutely delicious. A great make ahead recipe that is perfect for parties. Serve with veggies, chips or pretzels.

Tray with chopped veggies and a white bowl with bagel dip and a spoon

I love making healthy dips for game day snacks and movie nights. This green goddess dip and Indian style veggie dip are family favorites.

Here, I have a creamy and easy to make onion dip. This is a great recipe to have in your repertoire because is tastes crazy good AND it is very easy to make.

The base recipe for onion dip is from Alton Brown - it is a fool proof and everything is made from scratch. There are no artificial flavors or ingredients.

All the flavor in this amazing bagel dip comes from slow caramelized onions. Mayonnaise and sour cream add nice creaminess and tang to the dip. Everything bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s adds nuttiness and makes it very addictive*.

This everything but the bagel dip is great to make ahead of time. Actually it is recommended that you make this at least 1 hour to up to a day in advance. The extra chilling time gives all the ingredients time to mingle.

    Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you need to make this easy dip recipe:

    • onions - any variety would work
    • oil - olive oil is the best but you can use any variety
    • mayonnaise
    • sour cream
    • everything bagel seasoning
    • salt and pepper
Ingredients needed - details in recipe card

    Instructions

In a medium size nonstick pan, heat oil on medium flame. Add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are lightly browned and caramelized. This will take about 20 minutes. Turn off the heat and let the onions cool slightly.

Step by step photos showing caramelizing onions until golden

In the meantime, combine mayonnaise and sour cream in a mixing bowl. Add the cooled caramelized onions, everything bagel seasoning, salt and pepper. Mix well and refrigerate for at least 1 hour for the flavors to meld.

Serve with chips, veggies, pretzels and Enjoy!!

I love everything that is flavoured with Everything Bagel Seasoning. Did you make your own seasoning or did you use a store-bought blend? I tend to buy Trader Joe's seasoning blend quite often. It would work so well in this dip!
